OOTD: Tatton Park

Salaams :)

I thought I would do an outfit of the day post for you. My husband and I went to Tatton Park, partially because we're bored sitting in the house and partially because they had a Beatrix Potter exhibition. Most of her original watercolour paintings and writing are so fragile, they can only be shown once every 10 years. I felt very blessed to be able to see them, alhamdulillah. My only regret is I wasn't allowed to take photos :(

This is my outfit:
Scarf: Lazydoll (reviewed in my last post)
Cardigan: New Look
Top: Primark
Jeans: Warehouse
Shoes: Converse
Bag: Clarks

This is my husband (bored) and me, so you can see a close up of the Lazy Doll Scarf

Lazy Doll Review

Salaams   :)

I know I said I'd make the next post on styling abayas, but to be honest I haven't had chance to put the effort into the post that I wanted to. So I'm going to do a review post instead.

I'm a massive fan of Dina Tokio, the youtuber and blogger. Her style isn't always to my taste but she is very creative with her clothes and always looks modest and stylish. She has her own company, www.lazydoll.com, selling reworked and original vintage clothes and hand dyed hijabs. I've wanted one of her hijabs for so long but they sell out super quick. However, this time I was able to purchase 'Leyobard Plue', alhamdulillah.

If I was a professional, I would've took photos of the packaging. I'm not, and I was too excited to be taking photos of packaging. It came neatly packaged in a grey plastic wrapping with the scarf in a clear plastic wrapping inside, for those who are interested. The dispatch was also very fast. The only niggle I would have is the postage fee of £4, which I thought was a bit pricey.

This is the scarf:

The blue colour is an amazingly bright colour, it looks amazing and its huge. The measurements are: L180cms, W110cms. Perfect for doing folds and drapes with. I wore mine folded back so the blue was peeking out from underneath. I will be putting photos of me wearing it on my instagram: http://instagram.com/naomiearly

I've already washed it (by hand) and it came out really well. The colour didn't fade or run, the material is really soft and it didn't snag with pins in it. It also hasn't snagged with cat claws and the material is so soft, my cats love to snuggle it:

This was my attempt at photo reviews with my able assistant

Overall, I loved it and will definatly be buying more when the store is updated :)

Now on Instagram!

Salaams!

So as my phone contract was finally up, I could change my blackberry to. . . . An Iphone! I was way too excited to get an Iphone. What I forgot was that I struggle frequently with technology and it took me 5 days to learn how to put it on silent for work hours :) What makes it worse is that my husband actually works with social networking for his job. . . .

Anyway, now I have my Iphone, I also have instagram! My instagram username thingy is: naomiearly.

In other (less exciting) news, I also bought my first abaya. I started wearing hijab 'full time' in November 2012. I had been steadily adjusting my wardrobe since I took my Shadaha but I was struggling for money so I had to adjust the clothes I already had. I'm an avid watcher of muslim youtubers and read some of the comments about skinny jeans and the like from internet sheikhs. Whether these comments were right or wrong, I felt like I needed to cover more.

Any extra money I managed to save went on baggier and looser clothes. Then, my first abaya. I don't wear it all the time but I feel so much better as a muslim for covering up properly, alhamdulillah! The next post I do will be a styling an abaya post, insha'Allah.

On another note, I want to get out my feelings for the recent IERA lecture that enforced segregation at UCL. First of all, if I was attending an event on my own without my husband, I personally would sit in an area for women. This does not mean I am oppressed, it means I am adhering to the principles of my faith that I willingly practice. For UCL to ban IERA from holding future events at the university is oppressing us by not allowing us to sit in a female area like some muslim women want to. Slightly off topic but I wanted to get this off my chest :)

Work Wear!

Salaams,

So I recently made the decision to wear hijab at work. I'm a nurse, and the only hijabi nurse that I've ever seen is me! I don't have to decide what to wear every day, and I stick to plain scarves in varying shades of blue. If I didn't wear a uniform, these are my ideas on how to do workwear :)

Jumpers

Beginnings and Woolly Jumpers :)

First post of the blog will be on woolly jumpers. English weather is notorious for being changeable, cold, miserable and just plain awful. Just last night I had to drive home at 3 miles an hour due to the combination of fog and firework smoke, I couldn't even see the road markings in front of my car!

Daytime

Image 1 of ASOS Supersoft Black Skinny Jeans #4

With the skinny jeans, what I personally would do is buy them a size too big so they are loose around the legs, and buy the jumper a size too big so it covers your derriere. Cobalt blue is another big trend for A/W 2012, along with studs.

Jumper - Forever 21 £19.71
Jeans - Asos £28
Shoes - £30
Hijab - Princess Rockz £6.50

Image 4   This jumper from AX Paris (£25) meets one of the biggest trends for A/W 2012. . . Owls. I love owls, I have owl cushions and clocks at home. They are such beautiful creatures.  This jumper is definitely on my shopping list! Its also oversized so no need to buy a size too big.

Evening

Gold (Gold) Gold Glitter Strappy Platform Heels | 264245293 | New Look  With the skirt, just to make sure there is no skin visible, I would put leggings underneath. I would put this outfit with just a plain black chiffon hijab :)

Jumper - George at Asda £14
Skirt - Select £10
Headband - Forever 21 £4.90
Shoes - New Look £19.99
